Years of extensive research (cohort of one!), indicate that a Chief Conversation Catalyst is someone who believes that:
- meaningful conversation is a vital part of the “glue” that holds an organization together, and impacts everything we do - from planning to implementing change to measuring results and celebrating success
- the quality of our conversations is directly related to the quality of our organizations
- shifting the way dialogue takes place can transform our organizations and our communities for the better
Of the many sources of power that I know of the two most compelling are: power over one’s own self and the power to withhold power in one’s relationships. Laurel’s work has the potential as well as the promise of harnessing these two bases of power for individual as well as organizational transformation. She draws on wisdom that is borderless. Her work spans Canada, Japan and India where she served selflessly in an orphanage as well as in the elite Indian educational institutions of IIT Kanpur and IIM Lucknow. There is a ring of truth in Laurel’s voice that will connect with most people who are looking for authentic leadership and for power that endears as well as endures.
